Well, a week of active duty down, one to do and then drill weekend. It has been a LLOOONNNGGG week. Getting up early everyday and actually working instead of just cleaning house has taken a little longer to get used to than I thought. Then again, it has been two years or so since I did even two weeks of active duty for annual training. It feels good, though. The people I am working with are really supportive of me working issues with my kids and care takers as well as the issues with the good ole' husband. They gave me a mission that while not vital to the success of the training, it was still very important work that needed to be done and they gave it to me not because it was grunt work, but because they knew that I could do it, even if I had to ask for help sometimes. They even had me use MY discrecion on some decisions, told me that is what a leader does. They even support me in wanting to become an NCO, even if it is a long way off, they are getting me used to having to make decisions now. I love this unit. Too bad I will be leaving them in a year or two to deploy to Iraq. I have already been warned that the tempurature is going to be hell. Guess I better start hitting the saunas to get trained for it!
