Well, this has been a rocky few weeks. I have offically moved up to G-1, in the process of settling in along with another new AGR officer. I like him already, he doesn't give me work, he takes work away from me. He and my first line supervisor and our full time civilian employee in the office are always making sure that I get out of the office as soon as the important work is done.
I found out early last week, I have not been recommended for promotion. At least not the full recommendation required for me to get promoted. I have to have a majority of the board vote for me, which I did get, however, I also have to get a certain number of total points, which I did not get. I came up twelve points short. That is the easy part. I get more promotion points, I get enough that I have the full points going in, so the board will not be for points, just for the recommendation. The hard part is multi-fold. I need to continue to show that I am worthy of getting the votes from the board again, increasing my knowledge of my job and basic soldier skills, preparing for Warrior Leader Course in April, which includes passing a PT test 1 March. I have a diagnostic test on the tenth of Feb, which I know I will fail, and really don't care, I just want to have a strong performance.
Which takes me to my next issue. Based on the last few runs I have done, my run will come along very easily in the physical conditioning area, but my lungs just hurt so bad. It has been suggested several times over the last few years that I have exercise induced asthma, and I am beginning to believe that it is correct. I am going to have to go to the doctor in the next couple weeks to have him check me out. If I do have it, I want to get it treated right away, I won't let it slow me down. If it is not, then I want to find out if there is something else wrong slowing me down, or what I can do to improve my lung conditioning. I intent to being passing the APFT 1 March, and blowing it away by the time I come back from WLC, and go straight into training for the Army Ten Miler 2007!
