Last night my children finally got the surprise of the year... we were sitting in the bleachers at Cottrel Parade Field, with a bunch of families screaming and cheering at a bunch of buses coming around the block - and they had no idea WHY they were doing that, what was up with the buses... or why THEY were there! Until I finally pointed to the buses and said "Your daddy is on one of those buses! Your daddy is coming home tonight." Yea, they figured out why we were there - and I promptly loss at least a decible of my hearing for the night, due to my daughter SHRIEKING in my ear!
The first wave of the brigade has arrived safely, got to the parade field around 9:30 pm last night, and then everybody went out for a quick bite to eat of civilian food, pick up some food for the house so he can eat breakfast when he gets up, then we dropped daddy off at home around 1 am, got ourselves home around 130 and went to SLEEP! Now that I am down to one car, I have to get up at butt crack of dawn to bring SO into work so I can keep the truck to get the kids to school... so right now I am at my ex's house rather than burning gas going all the way back home for one hour before I would have had to get back on the road.
Today I will also spend being a chaueffuer... Ft. Stewart has a policy that soldiers just getting back from deployment can't drive for 24 hours in an effort to reduce car accidents from soldiers that are still exhausted from deployment and jet lag, and not used to driving conditions and habits of driving in the states (I call them nut job Iraqi drivers, they are very aggressive drivers over there... gee, sort of like my ex-husband!).
