Halloween/All Hallows Eve

Yesterday was a very busy day for my children. For some reason, the school had pajama day for the "Say No to Drugs" week theme of the day, instead of Halloween parties. The kindergarden class had their annual Fall Festival, which I actually went to! Yay, I am actually participating in my children's school functions for once! See how much longer THAT lasts once I have a job!

My Snow Princess decided that she was going to be scared of some of the costumes she saw when we went "Trunk or Treating" on post, so I had to explain to her how the old religions believe that on All Hallows Eve, the veil between the spirit

world and our world is thin and the spirits can cross over, so people would dress up in scary costumes to scare them back to the spirit world. It worked a little bit, she stopped trying to claw my arms off and just settled for holding on to my arm for dear life and hiding behind me anytime one of them came too close. But at least my arm is still intact.

We did the first half of our trick or treating on post at Trunk or Treat, and then we went off-post to do real trick or treating instead of standing in a line deal. They made out like bandits, of course. When we finally got home, it
was after 8. Little man had to get his mask washed off, and he was NOT happy about that... so not happy that within 10 minutes he was begging us to paint it back on because he "misses it so much!"

Next year they will not be able to wear these costumes again, so next year we gotta find something new for them... THAT is going to be fun! *note the THICK sarcasm"
