I just can't win!!

I have five days left in the Army, and the last two of them, I will be TDY down at Fort Knox outprocessing. My brother was supposed to pick my kids up from daycare Tuesday night, drop them off Wednesday morning and pick them up again that night and watch them until I got home - my flight doesn't even leave until 5:30, so I would not make it to pick them up Wednesday night. Well, he called me this morning... once again, he has no car, because he was in a one car accident. The dipstick is diabetic and his blood sugar dropped, so he stopped to get some food to bring it back up. After he got back in the van, some weirdo walked up to his van and started banging on his window, so my idiot brother drives off instead of calling the cops! And since his blood sugar was still out of wack, he apparently had some sort of reaction and woke up later with his van in a ditch. He is lucky he was wearing his seatbelt as his girlfriend has been bugging him to do, otherwise he says he would have been leaving the scene in an ambulance instead of in a car.

But that still left me in a lurch with no child care since he can't get from his place to mine without a vehicle. So I had to call a friend and ask her if she could watch my kids - she has her own almost one year old - and she is willing, just not able to do it the same way... I have to find someone to pick them up for an hour til she gets here. She has already watched my kids twice, once so I could perform Military Funeral Honors, and once so I could go to my now SIL's Bridal Shower... both times she refused to accept payment. She said I could just return the favor... well, she is running out of time. I won't be here much longer to watch little Noah!
